March 2022 Highlighted Ephemeris used with permission by Astro.com I use a trusted ephemeris to forecast general investor and consumer sentiment. Market timing is never easy, but the universe gives us clues to movement and momentum via sky translations. I’ll highlight the primary cyclical astrological-based stock market trend analysis of March below using planetary alignments and their significance in how they might influence US financial markets. In astrological analysis, the Moon is considered a planet. All transits are based on Eastern Time. March 1 – 2: Mercury contacts Saturn in the zone of society, groups and innovation. This brief encounter suggests a serious tone to business and geopolitical communications. Mercury influences talk, mental thoughts and on a mundane level, daily transportation. Saturn brings a sense of restraint and sometimes depression. This combination foretells a possible reversal of earnings. Commercial transactions and supply chain issues may be restricted while economic and global news remains somber. March 2: New Moon in Pisces spotlights new beginnings for fluid investments in water, oil, wine and spirits, plus hospitals, pharmaceuticals, hotels and cruises for most of the month if not longer. March 1 – 6: Pluto, Venus, and Mars join together in the sector of authority and ambition. This suggests governments are fully engaged as powerful international leaders (Pluto) discuss actions of war and military conflict (Mars) along with peace, finances, and partnership allies (Venus). Extreme market volatility for this duration is likely. Issues of control may besiege administrations and even corporate entities which may filter down to individuals. Solid future gains and opportunities for investors managing their money appear to be transforming. Due to this week’s overall trend, preferred equities to invest in may be energy and defense stocks. Either of these sectors may offer a hedge against inflation and the current war between Russia and Ukraine that’s got everyone on high alert. March 3 – 6: Sun conjoins Jupiter in the area of hidden secrets, deception, dreams and fantasy. This added layer indicates commanders-in-chief and our own inner ego drives for wealth expansion may be optimistic yet lack full clarity or realistic expectations. Inflationary issues may be a focus while day traders feel overly zealous to reap quick gains. My advice is to strategize through a magnified lens as you seek further buying opportunities. Not to sound bearish, but for long range investors it’s safer to remove any rose-colored glasses you’re wearing and avoid being overly optimistic. We can feel extremely positive and idealistic under this bountiful yet short-lived ephemeral influence. Cautionary measures with targeted diversification are advised. As with the monthly New Moon phase, this congruence of Sun and Jupiter initiates a new cycle of revitalized interest for investing in the following areas for possible profits until mid-April 2023: all liquids like water, oil, wine and spirits, plus hospitals, pharmaceuticals, cruise ships and hotel resorts. However, these plays may be short lived since the Sun enters Aries for the Spring Equinox on March 20. Aries is ruled by warrior planet Mars so again this hints that defense stocks might be wiser for the time being and immediate future. Machinery, metals, mining, minerals, and sports-related stocks are additional equities worth considering. March 6 – 14: Venus conjunct Mars together enter the 11th house sector of societal group associations and innovation. On the positive side: we may now see greater activity between partners with more worldwide humanitarian efforts. Since every planet has a positive and negative side, we might also encounter problems with computer hacking, especially in banking and finance. Remember, Venus equates to money, Mars means war, and they’re now in a tech savvy position. For investment income, technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics may gain some momentum. Social network companies like Meta (Facebook), Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and Pinterest are businesses that may receive more traction either up or down. Expect continued volatility. This week-long Venus-Mars sequence reinforces two prior cycles. First was a Mars-Saturn conjunction which began at the end of March 2020 when the Covid-19 pandemic exploded. After that we began a 20-year Jupiter-Saturn cycle about refreshing structural expansion that started on December 21, 2020. Mars-Saturn, Jupiter-Saturn, and Mars-Venus are all repeatedly meeting at 0° Aquarius suggests the Age of Aquarius (yes, like the song) is noticeably dawning. Unfortunately, with this minuscule beginning degree, enlightenment is at its infancy and equal to a newborn baby who enters the world kicking and screaming. Although humanitarian and pioneering, Aquarius has a rebellious side. In modern astrology this zodiac sign is guided by planet Uranus which can be erratic and drastically shift markets. For long range investing, research stocks with technical applications that might advance society for the next two decades. Ultimately, it’s a long-term growth trend that won’t pay dividends now. p.s. The Venus-Mars pairing doesn’t separate beyond 3° until March 22 so we’ll be feeling these lingering energies a while. March 11 – 14: Sun conjoins Neptune in the area of hidden secrets, deception, dreams and fantasy. A lack of clear direction is heightened days before the Federal Reserve meets. Everyone already expects a rate hike due to inflation, yet no one knows just how high the Fed intends to raise rates. As I look ahead to April astrology there are trends that inflationary concerns will only increase. I’ll write more on that later for next month. The full picture remains concealed until Jerome Powell speaks. Try not to imagine the worst as we all wait with baited breath. There’s much information we’re not being told. Once the Fed Chairman finally tells us his intentions, we should attempt to read between the lies lines. Citizens and markets have already been upset by Russian armies invading Ukraine, and the US now tops $27 trillion in debt. Perhaps they’ll announce a minimal rate increase. Or not. March 16 – 18: Full Moon in the area of details and analysis opposes Mercury, Jupiter, Neptune and Sun in the region of dreams and make-believe. This is a perfect time for the Fed to finalize financial points and provide clear guidance. Investors should scrutinize and strive to find a balance in achieving visionary goals with the data and facts the Federal Reserve now delivers. The critical puzzle pieces of knowledge we’ve longed for arrives, however these transits in mutable signs means some fluctuations in the coming months are probable. March 18 – 22: Venus and Mars now highlighted by social-minded innovations are challenged by surprises from Uranus in matters of finance. Money and partnerships (Venus) as well as humanitarian or combatant actions (Mars) are likely distressed when squared off by the planet of shock and awe (Uranus). Technology, cryptocurrencies, communications and transportation are broad sectors that tend to be affected under these influences. What the Fed or other media have to report can be upsetting for some or liberating for others. These planetary transits suggest the interest rate hikes have sunk in and will flip the market dramatically higher or lower. Uranus and ensuing fiscal policies take the lead as we maneuver between positions of equanimity and aggression. Aside from the financial marketplace, other additional potential outcomes are sudden earthquakes or airborne catastrophes. The one constant theme about Uranus is unpredictability so as they say, hope for the best and plan for the worst. March 20: Sun ingress into Aries, the house of “Me first”. Zodiac sign Aries is guided by Mars. As much as I love the Spring Equinox, this transition opens up ego-driven initiatives that can become more war-like. We’ll start to see more forthright action taking place throughout the world. Again, investments in defense stocks, sports, machinery, mining and metals will be in sharp focus. March 22 – 24: Mercury conjoins Jupiter and Neptune, again in the area of hidden secrets, deception, dreams and fantasy. Will it be more knowledge and conversations about inflation, inflated expectations, or both? We’re still learning to uncover clues and alleviate riddles on what to expect for next month. Don’t believe all idealistic notions you think, hear or read. Dreams are wonderful but fantasy can be purely conjecture when investing your hard-earned monies. March 25 – 28: Venus and Saturn conjoin in the 11th sector of groups and societal interests. Toward the month’s ends there’s a solemn or even somber vibe with Saturn in charge. Financial and partnership interests (Venus) seek solid structure and demand responsibility (Saturn). This is a good time for collective societies to join together for serious talks about social improvements, or think more seriously about your asset allocations for the rest of the year. Lighthearted love and soaring stocks may seem a faint memory now. March 28: Moon conjoins Mars, Venus and Saturn in the 11th sector of groups and societal interests. This suggests the general public is focused on innovation and humanitarian needs. As for stock market investments, Saturn can feel restrictive and limiting. You may face difficult choices wondering where to find the next pot of gold. There’s undoubtedly an emotionally serious tone that is brief but concentrated. March 31 - April 1: New Moon in Aries, where “it’s all about me”. Bold strength, courage and renewed self-interests become new motivators for April investing. Until then, dream big and aim high while trying stay grounded and plant seeds for growth. Resistance to volatility is futile. Postface: Is it possible to time and predict the market perfectly with absolute certainty? No, but you can get good clues about overall current trends when using an ephemeris as your guide. This is one reason why J.P. Morgan is quoted as saying, “millionaires don't need astrologers, but billionaires do.” As explained on Wikipedia, “In astronomy and celestial navigation, an ephemeris (plural: ephemerides) is a book with tables that gives the trajectory of naturally occurring astronomical objects as well as artificial satellites in the sky, i.e., the position (and possibly velocity) over time.” Now we can easily review ephemerides online complete with asteroids, lunar nodes and other cosmic points by visiting Astro.com: https://www.astro.com/swisseph/swepha_e.htm The ephemeris I use is geocentric (the sky transitions as viewed by humans on Earth) and based on seasonal calendar Tropical zodiac movements. Don’t knock this ancient language of astrology until you’ve tried it! Experienced astrologers are often able to make reliable calculations using their knowledge of sky symbolism. You only need to understand basic mathematical principles to read an ephemeris or analyze circular wheel charts. The principles divide a 360° circle into a pie of 12 sections and uses numbers 0 – 29 as degrees for easy arithmetic. Math and science were my worst subjects in school and yet it’s super easy with today’s computer software to calculate positions. Learning to interpret the symbolic language takes a bit longer. I’ve been studying planetary cycles for 40+ years. Our Milky Way Galaxy solar system is filled with many planets, dwarf planets, fixed stars and millions of asteroids, not to mention sensitive points like apogees. Transits often overlap and create extremely active months of fluctuating and intersecting energies. Disclaimer: The above content is for entertainment and educational purposes only.
