Modern Psychological and Humanistic Astrology teaches us how planets and other cosmic bodies have unique archetypal symbolism. We can also interpret the zodiac like any foreign language. All celestial bodies have both positive and negative energies and it’s up to us to choose which ones we use. Where foggy Neptune is concerned, core keywords to understand the astrological influences of this planet include dreams, imagination, confusion, escapism, illusion, boundless, fantasy and deception. I’ve been feeling the effects of Neptune since transiting its home sign Pisces in February 2012. First this hazy gas planet *kissed* my natal planet Mercury. As Mercury is the planetary ruler of our mind, thoughts and communications, this transit triggered new ideas about relocating far from my home in California and pursuing a career in musical theatre as a lyricist. I did both and neither turned out as I’d hoped. When Neptune is speaking to Mercury, especially so strongly in conjunction, the truth is more often clouded by fraud or trickery from others as well as one’s own self-deception. Our visions seem grand and real, but there’s a hidden mystery we’ve yet to solve. So with Neptune-Mercury “aspects” (astrology jargon for “orbital connections”) it’s good to realize and always remember that life events and expectations may not live up to your wildest dreams. Fast forward to 2016 and nebulous Neptune was then conjunct my natal Moon. The natal Moon presides over our emotions, feelings, subconscious, sense of security, women and mothers. This was actually good time for me to get in touch with who I am emotionally, find inner peace and what I want in life. It took a couple of years but I didn’t rush the process. I was able to quite my mind and get heart-centered about what I really want in life. It turns out writing and working in theater isn’t really my calling. I also tried other creative projects that flopped. Pisces people dream big! Then I finally re-discovered my love of astrology, yoga and meditation. Eventually I tapped into the fact aging healthy and gracefully means I’d much rather enjoy a peaceful and serene daily routine than stressful excitement and drama of stage entertainment and its inherent politics. I’m older and wiser and can say that now with utter clarity. Currently Neptune is exactly at my natal Sun degree where it will hover until 2023. The Sun rules our life force, the light we wish to shine in the world, our inner character, individuality, and self-expression. In 2017 I started teaching Astrology classes and more recently launched my Astrology website. What I’ve noticed most about this transit is that I’ve had the strangest dreams! Only now I’m referring to my dreams visualized during sleep. Neptune has also relaxed me to the point of enjoying more sleep for extended hours. It’s been perfectly Neptunian! Luckily with my schedule I can keep musician’s hours. I’ve never been a morning person. I believe this has something to do with my time of birth (at 5:01 PM). In a magical way, Neptune at my same Pisces natal Sun degree feels like a long overdue homecoming of what and who my soul meant to be all along. (Perhaps someone with a Uranus transit on their Aquarius Sun might experience a similar notion.) I’ve learned some important secrets in handling Neptune transits. Number one: allow yourself to be inspired! Imagination is a beautiful outlet that can lead to great creative innovations. Let yourself dream big, but always keep both feet firmly grounded in reality — in love, money, work, family, friends, neighbors. Study your sleeping dreams too as they hold secrets for you. Also, remember it’s okay to go slow and meander through times of uncertainty. Better to take concrete steps under Neptune's rays. The influence of planet Neptune is a great source for inspiration, yet don’t be overly confident in your visions without also getting practical and guidance from reliable and trusted people from your inner circle. Be sure to seriously consider their advice because it’s highly likely you’re not seeing things clearly. Imagine what the outcome of your endeavors will look like 5 years into the future. That can help determine your best present path. In the end, no matter what you decide, you have to live with the consequences of your actions. That’s karma baby! Thoughts of my Neptune transit led me to write a new lyrical poem, which I hope to turn into a fully recorded song soon. Here it is: TRANSITS While Neptune is sitting on my Sun I tend to get tired and that’s no fun I would much rather feel a rush With a fiery Mars in Sagittarius Planet Pluto brought an endless pain Since my folks left I’m not the same Now they’re spirits in the sky Leaving hearts to mend after tears we cry If you’re going through some rough years Still unsure in life or love Stay mutable and try to shift gears Learning lessons of signs from above Oh transits come and go As seasons change we find our flow Moving past us fast though Some travel slow Transits show What it’s time to know This human experience on Earth Will one day bring us to rebirth By Trudy Carol aka Trudee Lunden © 2021 All Rights Reserved Comments are closed.
